Why are many of my replays only a few seconds long?
This occurs when visitors and bots spend minimal time on a page. Here’s the typical sequence:
- Visitor or bot lands on a page at second 1.
- Propel Replays starts recording once most of the page is loaded - e.g., around second 2 or 3.
- Visitor or bot leaves the page around second 6 or 7.
The result is a pageview replay only a few seconds long. These ‘bounce’ visits are very common and result in sessions replays that switch quickly from page to page. In fact, “almost half of visits to e-commerce sites result in ‘bounces’!”
Bot Activity
Section titled “Bot Activity”Propel Replays also captures this bounce behavior from bots. They quickly visit a page, download the source code then move on to the next page. Propel Replays filters out most but not all bots.
Fast-Forward Functionality
Section titled “Fast-Forward Functionality”Propel Replays will fast forward through replays when there’s no movement on the page - e.g., no scrolling or clicking or mouse movements. If a visitor is on a page and makes no movement, the app will quickly fast forward through the replay until the visitor makes a movement or it reaches the end of the replay.
